How To Transition Well Today + Nurture Yourself

I thought you might need a change today, so I want you to change it up today and switch sticky note colors!

It’s PERSONAL. It’s about nurturing your new self today.

As an executive, senior producer, coach, wife, mom and now a Nana Gen, I’ve had lots of experiences understanding how important it is for kids [and big kids] 😉 to transition well. 

I find TRANSITION the most challenging phase for my clients when incorporating Stillness into their daily lives. Stillness is your strategy time dedicated to sit, rest in God, + experience the authentic stirring of godly thoughts + ideas that you incorporate in your daily blended life.

Use these Transition Tips for your weekend + time off from work. 

EXCELLENT WAYS to moving away from professional work today.

Even if you practice a 4-day work week or your off day isn’t until Monday, use these 4 GREAT TIPS to transition into what we all need regularly - - well deserved rest and peace, good health, laughter and a smile.

  1. Begin Transitioning the Day Before. In your stillness time, thank God for the strength he’s given you to get to the end of your work week. Thank him for what you accomplished. Don’t fret over the things on your list you didn’t get to. Christ said each day is sufficient unto itself, and wow, do we need to be reminded of that message! Just sit still and receive the rest before your day. True rest gives you strength.

Journal the ideas of refreshing, hopeful activities you can do during your time off from work.

2. Unwind Your Mind. Take advantage of aromatherapy. There are many essential oils, but the ones that come to mind quickly are lavender, bergamot, lemongrass, frankincense, orange and a study confirmed how the essential oil yuzu helped relieve negative emotional stress....whether it’s a candle, light lotion or diffuser; use it as you transition today for a gentle reminder you are personal winding down.

3. Inhale intentionally. I just love flowers! So even working from home, I use flowers and bring them to the forefront of my eyesight in my work area. I have connected flowers to breathing. So when I see them, they remind me to breathe. How many shallow breaths have you been taking this week? Deep breathing is important to bring your heart into its proper rhythm. Right breathing releases endorphins that have a natural calm effect. Rework your brain and activate better thinking, positive feeling, and regroup your behavior for today’s transition moving into time off.

Try this:  Inhale for four counts, exhale for six and repeat this two more times. 

4. Speak Transition in Color. How are you doing bringing color into your life? It’s so easy to let our anxious moods from the workplace or others try to color your perception + spread into your time off. Develop habits to overcome letting someone else’s mood permeate your hopeful outlook.

Wear a color to remind you its your transition day. Blue denotes wisdom so bring yours to the forefront! Green is another great color denoting refreshing. A refreshing change is coming! btw- it can also be used as a restful color for the eyes of your coworkers or Zoom audience. 

Align well today! And as you wind down the work clock today, make sure you keep a healthy hydration regimen, especially if you’re going to celebrate the end of your work week with a glass of wine. God wants you to enjoy your life and celebrate the gifts he’s given you. Just do it in healthy moderation. 

If you can sneak away from home responsibilities this evening, indulge in a water massaging shower with aromatherapy scented soap or maybe an old fashioned milk bath with a candle.

Make time to transition well to fully enjoy your time away from work. You’ll be happier you incorporated this transformation habit into Living your BEST Life Today!
